Hello. My name is Vinny. I’m from Wisconsin in the United States. I have been learning and teaching languages for over 10 years. I specialize in teaching English and Spanish for complete beginners. I developed and created the AnkiMaster system for learning languages.

See what my students have to say about my classes

Do you regret not learning a new language earlier in your life? Do you wish you had bilingual parents so you could have just learned as a kid?

Don’t worry. I understand. I grew up as a typical monolingual American and didn’t seriously think about learning new languages until I first traveled to Thailand when I was 21.

I have good news for you!

It’s never too late to start learning a new language. I’m not saying that just to make you feel better. Learning languages as an adult has never been easier!

With new methods of learning combined with powerful learning technologies, it is now possible to learn to speak a new language FLUENTLY in just one or two years!

If you’re monolingual like I was, you may find this hard to believe. Maybe you think your brain is different and you’re just not good at learning languages. Perhaps you think you have a terrible memory for words and can never remember how to pronounce them correctly.

I use to think many of these things and I’m happy to tell you that none of that is true. You’re human just like me and have the same linguistic learning capabilities as anybody else.

I don’t believe you have to be a genius or “a language person” to successfully learn a new language. I believe in the results of strategic learning and regular practice with the help of modern learning technology.

But there's one key ingredient you need first. You need lots of

In order to be highly motivated you need to be inspired. To be inspired, you need to listen to the stories of other successful language learners who have achieved things in life that you want.

I’m happy to share my own inspiring story that all began with a trip to Thailand.

Do you want to...

Learn about new cultures?

Travel to new places and make new friends?

Have an exotic adventure that will change your life forever?

These were some of the dreams I had when I was in my early 20’s. But I had one BIG problem. I could only speak English!

The young Vinny you see on the left was completely monolingual. Unfortunately, I didn’t speak Thai with my monk friend. English was the only way we could communicate. His name is Pweerawuth Manaweero and actually he was my first English student 🙂

The much older Vinny on the right is completely fluent in Spanish. My shaman friend Mayito standing next to me doesn’t speak English. We communicate only in Spanish. I wouldn’t have met Mayito if I didn’t speak Spanish.

Back in my Thailand days, my world was very filtered. I usually only made friends with people who could speak English. I didn’t take much responsibility for my learning. I thought it would just come easily to me because I was living in the country and I was immersed in the language.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough. I needed a lot more than that. This is where my journey to become fluent in another language really began.

And what an interesting journey it has been!

Learning Japanese with SRS

I tried again with Japanese. This is when I discovered the power of SRS (spaced repetition software). I used Anki flashcards to teach myself 2,000 kanji (Chinese symbols which are used to read and write Japanese) in a year and half. Learning 2,000 kanji is not easy and normally takes 10-20 years using normal learning methods. With the power of modern learning technology like Anki, I was able to achieve very impressive results.

Recovering from PTSD with Spanish

Unfortunately I did not have the positive experience I was hoping to have while living in Japan and that compromised my attempts to learn Japanese. Due to a personally traumatic experience I left Japan and was unable to study languages for 4 years while I took time to recover.

Later during my recovery I began to learn Spanish using the many self-study techniques I had learned while studying Japanese. Through this process I also began to heal my brain and restore my ability to study and learn new languages.

Within a few years I was packing my bags and seeing the world again!

Why do I want to share this with you?

I want to tell you this story because most people fail to become fluent in a new language because they don’t believe in themselves and they’re not inspired.

It’s very simple. If you don’t believe in yourself and you’re not inspired, you’re not going to learn and I can’t teach you.

If there’s one thing I hope to share with the you, it’s the inspiration that I feel through my intense life experiences traveling to and living in different countries around the world and learning new languages. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to and live in Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Spain and Ecuador. I currently live in Ecuador where I study and practice traditional ancestral medicines.

I’m an underdog. I’m not the best or smartest student in the world. If I can do it, you certainly can too. I don’t believe in geniuses. My success with languages comes from finding ways to stay inspired and working hard towards my goals. I was also lucky to discover some very powerful technologies (Anki!) early in my life that helped me learn much faster and more efficiently than using conventional methods of learning.

I almost achieved my dreams with Japanese. After 2 years of intensive study, I was so close! I thought my language-learning dreams were over. I thought I would never become fluent in a second language. 😭😭

I decided to be my own hero and re-write the story. I refused to believe that my brain was broken. I couldn’t give up after dedicating so many years of my life to learning languages. I knew I was capable of speaking new languages fluently. I still had all the knowledge of how to do it.

Through the process of learning Spanish, I continued to expand my knowledge of Latin America and its ancestral medicines to help myself heal and grow.

Thanks to learning Spanish I’ve found my true spiritual path with the shamans of Latin America. It was with the help of their ancestral knowledge of natural medicines and my experience through learning a second language that helped me to recover from the darkest and most difficult times in my life.

ANYBODY can learn a new language

YOU can learn a new language!

My most successful attempt to learn a new language with Spanish began when I was in the worst possible condition to start learning. This taught me how extremely important inspiration and motivation are in the learning process. It really is EVERYTHING!

When I learned Spanish, I was more inspired than I had ever been before. That was the key difference between my experiences learning Spanish versus Japanese and Thai. I was extremely inspired and motivated.

You can achieve the same results. It’s not about how smart you are. It’s about how inspired and motivated you.

I’d love to be a part of your inspiration and help you gain the confidence to learn to speak Spanish!

What inspires you?

Do you want to learn to dance salsa?

Do you want to hang out on the beach and make new friends?

You can see a lot of places and meet a lot of people! Spanish is a BIG language.

Welcome to AnkiMaster!

This is my website where I share with you the most powerful language learning methods and tools so that you can become fluent in Spanish and achieve your dreams.

I’ve dedicated over 10 years of my life to learning and teaching languages. When I first started learning Thai in 2010, I had no idea what I was doing. Through my research on the internet, I connected with some very successful language learners who taught me some useful, time-saving methods.

These polyglots (a person who speaks several languages fluently) were the source of all my inspiration and motivation. They also taught me new ways of learning that are not taught in normal language classes.

10 years later I find myself in an envious position. I speak Spanish fluently and I learned it very quickly without spending a lot of money or traveling much. I was already fluent the first time I traveled to Spain in 2018.

Why do so many people spin their tires when trying to learn a new languages? Unfortunately there are many people who take classes for several years and still never reach a satisfactory level of fluency with their target language.

After studying three different languages myself, I began to notice what worked and what didn’t work. I became a learning scientist. I experimented with different strategies to see what kind of results I could get.

For the past 5 years I have been teaching English and more recently Spanish online. Teaching in an online environment has given me the freedom to use any kind of method I want. I teach my own method that I have developed through my years of experience investigating polyglots and applying their methods and strategies on myself to study Thai, Japanese and Spanish. I’ve tested these methods on my own students and they have proven to be extremely effective, allowing my students to learn 3-4 times faster than with conventional learning methods.

It’s also a lot more fun. My unique learning methods allow students to learn much more enjoyably by learning with fun content, such as TV shows, comic books, and podcasts. Say goodbye to grammar books and boring exercises. With AnkiMaster, you can actually learn and have fun at the same time!
