You will often read sentences that have more than one word/expression that you do not understand. You can create a card combo to learn multiple words with different cards.

EXAMPLE
MY SENTENCE:
The blade is too dull to cut the rope. Can you get the knife sharpener?
This sentence has two unfamiliar words/expressions. How do I want to study these words? Let’s look at the definitions.
dull
adj. KNIFE/BLADE not sharp SYN blunt
knife sharpener
n. (Cookery) a kitchen implement that is used to sharpen knives
Target Word 1: dull
I’ll study the first word dull with the usual 3 card combo.
Card 1
Sentence card with MY SENTENCE with a definition and related pictures of the word/expression dull.
This card introduces the new sentence.
Card 2
New Word card for the word/expression dull.
Card 3
Definition-Word card for the word/expression dull.
Target Word 2: knife sharpener
I’ll study knife sharpener with a 2 card combo. I don’t need another sentence card because I already have one with this sentence.

Alternative card combinations
Depending on the difficulty of these words, you may want to choose fewer cards. You could use 2 New Word cards and 2 Definition-Word cards, or just 2 New Word cards. Use the minimum number of cards you need to remember the information.
EXAMPLE
MY SENTENCE:
Here she was, a good Samaritan, someone who saw someone in need and didn‘t hesitate to help.
This sentence has two unfamiliar words/expressions. How do I want to study these words? Let’s look at the definitions.
good Samaritan
n. c. someone, especially a stranger, who helps you when you have problems or need something
hesitate
v. intr. to pause before saying or doing something because you are nervous or not sure
I have two new words/expressions. I want to study this information with four cards.
Target Word 1: good Samaritan
Card 1
Sentence card with MY SENTENCE with a definition and related picture of the word/expression good Samaritan.
Card 2
Definition-Word card for the word good Samaritan.
Card 3
Pronunciation card for the word good Samaritan.
“Samaritan” is really hard for me to pronounce. This card helps my pronunciation.

I need another example of the word hesitate. I’ll use a new sentence for this word.
